Just to say, that the improved drawing tool in 1.8.2 is a LOT better. I remember mentioning a strange 'lag' right back when I first started using Artoonix, but 1.8.2 really does seem to cure that, especially when using the the thinner and medium thickness lines.

The option to NOT install the demos is also a useful tweak for anyone who is simply upgrading an existing version.

PS: there's a small typo in the Release notes > "additioanal", and I think a comma is needed after 'filters' because the sentence reads very strangely and seems to make sense with the comma. So I think it should read "additional to Direct Show filters, avi files import is implemented ..."

I'm very glad they decided to improve the drawing tool! Hope it will be more reactive (just like paint!! It could be a great result!)

Yes, it's not quite as responsive as the tools in Paint or other dedicated drawing programs, but it's a heck of a lot better and makes for much greater ease when trying to draw curves.

I've posted a couple of suggestions for tweaks to the sound functions, although I doubt that one of them is feasible. But I've also explained how I get round the one 'problem'.

I've no idea what's scheduled for 1.9 though as the main feature of the interim release is the drawing tool, maybe the next upgrade will see more changes in that area.

Whatever - Artoonix is steadily evolving into a VERY powerful little program. I can't understand why we don't see more mentions of it in other animation forums. And I still have no idea why this forum is so quiet .... it's basically you, me, Andrei and Youri plus the occasional spammer. Very odd.

I'm sure that a lot (most?) of the new users aren't new users at all. If you look at their member names, you can be pretty sure that they are spambots or are directly linked to particular types of website. There have also been several messages posted into the forum recently which have nothing to do with Artoonix at all and if you track the emails of those posters, you often end up at some VERY unpleasant websites. One or two of the messages can also be found posted into lots of forums for all sorts of different things .... they're just being sent out automatically.

Unfortunately, the phpBB forum engine is known to have weaknesses when it comes to filtering out spam. I used to belong to a few other forums which used it, but they eventually shut down or switched to a different format because of that problem. phpBB, of course, is an open source program but interestingly there is a forum for its users and the fight against spam is featured - including the development of MODs to help.

One forum I still belong to uses phpBB but they were once brought down by a hacker. Their answer is simple - they don't allow anyone to become a member without being authorised by the Admin team. I'm not sure what they do because I joined the forum before that system was implemented and my membership was retained afterwards because I was a known and authentic member. I'm guessing that one simple thing they will do will be to require a potential member to respond to an email - that would stop the spambots. To make that work, of course, the administrators have to make sure they monitor the forum every single day. (One other forum I joined obviously used that system, but the person who ran it only seemed to check the site every few weeks, so people who wanted to join it became very angry over the delay and eventually the whole forum shut down).

My 2 cents worth on a useful tool. It would be nice to have a pencil with a few colors to write on your charts as you please. I know you can add notes but I think would be more flexable and useful.
