Way back, I think about 2 years ago, when I first got Artoonix, I tried to register it,..how ever when I got to the Pay pal, and credit card, part, I couldn't, because I don't have nor use credit cards,..,...So I started Paypal account, but then when I tried to pay, it still requird a credit card,..so that didn't work, and I fortunately was able to part of the money back from paypal, and I closed the account. So then I wrote, (e-mailed) support, asking if I couldn't just send them a money order,..The reply I got was that it is not worth the trouble, and they can not do that,..that I should look in a software store, and just buy a CD,..however here in Mexico ,where I am there are no good software stores,..and I never did find a copy in any.
So as much as I would like to pay the $35.00, (I think it was) it may be more now, and register Artoonix,..I still have not been able.
A music software I bought, they did accept that, it was Final , a composeing software,..I actually just sent them the 30.00, in cash, by mail ( kind of risky),but it was cause, here in this town, there is no where to get a money order.
Another place, I sent it by western union, the guy that worked in the office, picked it up,...
Anyay, so I never have been able to register Artoonix,...I wish I could, I know this is a un usual situation, but some people can not or do not want to use credit cards, I am one of them,..
So I guess thats about it,. but at least, I am thank ful that the unregistered version still works ok,..

I know of 2 others and have heard from at least one other who couldn't register for the same reason.

BUT - on the registration page of the website there IS a section for '...Bank/Wire transfer, Check or Cash...' which can lead to the 'check/prepayment' option. Doesn't that work? Your message suggests not. I paid via card so I never had to try that.

If you're right, then it's a shame, but that looks to be the way it is. I have no idea how many people have ever actually bought and registered Artoonix. I suspect its development has been a pastime for Andrei and Youri or they'd have made arrangements for people to pay via a range of ways just to maximise their earnings from what has been a hell of a lot of effort spent on it over many years. I recall posting a comment a long time ago querying whether it was such a good idea to have so many full features in the free version as I thought it would discourage people from paying for the full product. I felt that it might be better to make the program available in its full form for a limited period (ie: timebombed) and for it to then deactivate (or for some key features to deactivate) unless it was registered. Many shareware and commercial software developers use that tactic.

Having said all that - and partly proving my argument - the free version of Artoonix is excellent and actually offers almost everything you'll probably really need. Tweening is a good additional option in the registered version, but it has particular limitations of its own.

It has been so long now I don't remember for sure, there wasn't a check option, but I think you are right on the bank wire transfer, but on that, my bank charges $50.00, minmum, for any wire transfer,...!... So, .
Anyway, I am glad they have most of the features,..
I think though most people, would pay,..it really is not very expensive. If and when I happen to go the U.S. I can look for it, in a software store,..
There is a lot of \"shareware\" or open source software, from what I have heard, some, of the better programs, stiil get a lot of \"donations\" from people that are grateful,.even though they don't have to pay,..However the animation software that is available, and I have tried many, are not that good,...actually some might be, but they have too many \"bells and whistles\", I never could get anyway where, too complicated.
Guess thats about it ,

This has been one of my specialist areas of interest for many years - mostly because when I was teaching, I was able to point my pupils towards free software of all sorts (mostly biased towards maths and animation, plus educational games). If you look for the website CALICO MONKEY and scan down the page devoted to free animation software, you'll find a lot of pointers. I posted several lists there. Artoonix, of course, was mentioned alongside many others. It all depends upon what you want.

We have changed the links for payment some time ago. You don't need to use credit card if you have Paypal account.
By the way, if somebody doesn't know, Paypal account can be created without a credit card, just bank account.

Ok, thanks, I will check that out again,...like I had said this ,was a couple of years ago, so paypal also may have changed theyre policy's too.
I didn't have any problem before, creating the pay-pal account,..and my bank was able to transfer the money to the account,..but where the problem came in, is when I tried to make the payment,..pay pal, required a credit card number, still, to make the payment, which didn't make any sense to me, since the payment is via paypal, so I wrote them, they said sorry but thats the way it is, one still has to enter a credit card number,.. However, perhaps if enough people \"complained\", they may have changed this,..
thanks from Garry
